Send-off for Gonzales All Stars set for noon

GONZALES — There will be a send-off for the Gonzales All Stars 12U team leaving to compete in the Dixie Youth Baseball Majors World Series in Ruston.

The sendoff is scheduled for noon Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Gonzales Civic Center, 219 S. Irma Blvd.

The Gonzales All-Stars qualified for the Majors World Series by finishing second in the state tournament in Metairie in July.

Gonzales and state champion Lakeshore Indians will represent Louisiana in the eight-team tournament from Aug. 4 through Aug. 9.

It is the first 12U team from Gonzales to compete in the World Series since 1986.

Gonzales will play a team from Alabama Friday at noon at the Ruston Sports Complex, 2001 Champions Way.
