Union Parish Sheriff Dusty Gates said a work release inmate is most likely headed to Baton Rouge after he allegedly killed an employee at a chicken processing plant.
Bruce Causey, 48, was at his job at the Foster Farms in Union Parish this morning when Sheriff Gates said he got into an argument with an employee working the same line. That argument allegedly led Causey to stab the employee several times.
The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of family. He was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries.
“Based on our investigation, we were able to determine Causey was picked up by someone and dropped off at a location south of here and we just feel he’s probably trying to head back to Baton Rouge,” said Sheriff Gates.
Causey is a Dept. of Corrections inmate, who was assigned to the chicken processing plant in Union Parish.
He was last seen wearing a blue tee-shirt and blue jeans. He’s described as being 5’9” and weighing 235 lbs.
Sheriff Gates said Causey does have a lengthy criminal past out of East Baton Rouge Parish. Causey was slated to go before the parole board on May 19, 2022, which he has since been removed off of now. He was sentenced to 25 years for a narcotics charge.
Anyone who believes they have seen Causey is asked to call your local law enforcement or the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office at 318-368-3124.
