ASCENSION — Deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested a Gonzales woman in connection to a burglary that resulted in the theft of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a sports store in Donaldsonville.
Some people window-shop, some people bargain-hunt, and then there’s Katherine Douzat—who allegedly decided to skip the checkout line altogether. According to authorities, deputies responded to reports of a break-in at a store on Highway 3089 on January 13.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that approximately $10,000 worth of shoes and clothing had been stolen. Officials say at least two individuals were involved in the burglary.
Katherine Douzat, 37, was identified as one of the suspects and was taken into custody. She was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of simple burglary and theft of $5,000 but less than $25,000.
The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities anticipate more arrests in connection with the case. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
