Shooting at RaceTrac on Essen near I-10

There was a shooting around 4pm at the RaceTrac and one suspect has fled. It's why numerous EBRSO deputies are in the area searching.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office responded to the RaceTrac on Essen Ln. near I-10 around 4pm on March 9, 2022.

Officials said there was some type of incident where a person, possibly a RaceTrac employee, was shot in the leg with a non-life threatening injury.

The shooter is said to have fled on foot and the sheriff’s office is searching the area for him. A female who was with the shooter has been detained by deputies.

There is a very heavy law enforcement presence on Essen Ln. near I-10 and traffic is terrible. It’s best to find an alternate route home.
