BATON ROUGE —- One person has been arrested in connection with a suspected home invasion that left a 21-year-old Southern University student dead.
U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force apprehended 20-year-old Zion Buck for his alleged involvement in Donovan Pugh’s death.
It was just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 3, 2025 when Baton Rouge Police officers responded to the Cadence at Southern University housing on Scenic Highway for a possible home invasion.
At the scene and inside an apartment, officers found Pugh dead from gunshot wounds. He was a third-year student at Southern University.
Pugh’s mother Wendy Hansell said this wasn’t the first time her son was directly impacted by crime at his apartment complex. Hansell spoke with her son’s roommate, who told her they reported a robbery that occurred Thanksgiving day to the housing office.
Buck was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for first degree murder, home invasion and armed
robbery.
