A #BatonRouge family helps others struggling with #mentalhealth issues.
LSU Tiger Marching Band member Matthew Bahlinger took his own life in February 2022 after battling with depression. His family has established the Matthew Bahlinger Memorial Fund to raise awareness and break the stigma around mental health.
And for the second year, they hosted “Matt’s Dinner”. Local restaurants helped cater dinner for LSU Tiger Band students and staff at the end of Tigerama. Matthew’s family wants to secure funding to pay the salary of a full-time grad students counselor to work exclusively with all music and drama students at LSU to provide instant help for students who are struggling.
