As Americans celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday this holiday weekend, several agencies are encouraging everyone to practice safe boating and fun on the water. That means choosing to drive and operate boats without the influence of alcohol and drugs.
“Boat safe, boat sober and get home” is this weekend’s message during Operation Dry Water.
From July 3-5, law enforcement agencies, including the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), U.S. Coast Guard, sheriff’s offices, and more, will increase patrols and enforcement for Operation Dry Water. During the holiday weekend, law enforcement officers will identify impaired operators and educate boaters and their passengers on making responsible decisions.
