West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting at 5507 La. Hwy 966 in rural West Feliciana Parish on Monday, December 19th.
A 911 caller had reported that a 51-year-old male had been shot multiple times. Responding deputies found Michael Lancaster, 51 of Spanish Fort, AL shot in the head, neck and shoulder areas.
West Feliciana Parish Sheriff Brian Spillman said, “It was determined that Lancaster was shot three times by James Blake, 66, of Kasilof, AK. Blake was taken into custody at the scene without incident.”

The preliminary investigation indicates Blake and Lancaster had been arguing earlier in the day at Lancaster’s father’s funeral and that dispute carried over to the family home after the services. Witnesses say that the two began fighting outside the home and Blake produced a handgun and allegedly shot Lancaster.
Lancaster was transported to a local hospital for treatment of the gunshot wounds and is expected to recover.
Blake received medical attention from an injury he got in the fight and was booked into the West Feliciana Parish Detention Center on the charge of Attempted Second Degree Murder. His bond was set at $175,000.
Looks like West Feliciana judges understand how bail works
