LORANGER — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed one teen and left the passenger in critical condition Wednesday night.
Officials say TPSO responded to the crash on Easley Road Extension in Loranger shortly before 9 p.m.
TPSO said Landon Prokop, 18, of Independence, was driving a 2006 Nissan 350 northbound on Easley Road. For reasons still being investigated, the Nissan entered the gravel portion of Easley Road Extension, traveling several hundred yards before overturning several times and ejecting both occupants.Â
Officials say the crash killed Prokop and critically injured an 18-year-old passenger whose name will not be released at this time. First responders transported the passenger to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. Due to the severity of the damage and the status of the occupants, seatbelt use is unknown, and speed is believed to be a contributing factor.
