Six & nine-yr-old brothers drown in Livingston Parish

LIVINGSTON — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the possible drowning of two brothers.

It happened around 12:30pm on Saturday, April 29. The actual address for the incident has an Independence address, but is within Livingston Parish.

Livingston Parish deputies were dispatched to a home on Deer Lakes Trail for the possible drowning of a 9-yr-old boy and his six-year-old brother.

“It is with great sadness that I confirm the deaths of two siblings, a 9 year old & a 6 year old,” said LPSO Sheriff Jason Ard in a statement. “We are not identifying the juveniles at this time.”

Officials say the brothers were seen walking near the neighborhood pond. It is unclear how or why they ended up in the water. After they got in the water though, deputies say the boys did not immediately resurface.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene and assisted LPSO in an effort to provide aid to the brothers.
