SLIDELL — This summer, Slidell Police Narcotics detectives conducted multiple investigations into illegal narcotics activity throughout Slidell and the surrounding area. These investigations resulted in 75 arrests, 13 search warrants, and the seizure of illegal narcotics and guns.
The following were seized (approximate amounts):
- 87 grams of methamphetamine
- 97 grams of fentanyl
- 284 grams of cocaine
- 910 Tapentadol pills
- 7 firearms
The 75 arrests and narcotics seizures were the result of numerous investigations involving surveillance, traffic interdiction, and court-authorized search warrants, per Slidell Police. While some investigations developed over time, others were from proactive enforcement efforts aimed at identifying individuals involved in the possession and distribution of illegal narcotics.
These enforcement efforts were carried out with assistance from members of the Slidell Police Department’s K-9 and Traffic Divisions, as well as several of our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners. Detectives worked closely with Homeland Security Investigations and Louisiana State Police throughout several investigations. The St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office provided additional support and resources through its Opioid Initiative.
Chief Tommy Williams praised the work of the detectives and officers involved in the investigations, as well as the continued partnership between the agencies that assisted.
These results are a reflection of the work our detectives are putting in every day, but they also show what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together and share resources,” said Chief Williams. “Those who choose to sell dangerous drugs in our community should understand that our efforts are not slowing down. We are going to continue finding them and holding them accountable.”
The Slidell Police Department remains committed to proactively identifying and investigating those involved in illegal narcotics activity, while continuing to work closely with our law enforcement partners to keep dangerous drugs off the streets of Slidell.
