Son arrested, accused of stabbing his mother

LORANGER– The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested a man accused of stabbing his mother.

Lance Joiner, 28, was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder following an incident on May 13.

Officials say deputies responded to a residence on Cory Road after a victim called 911 saying her son had stabbed her.

According to the investigation, Joiner had been in a physical altercation with family members after they found him attempting to harm himself with a knife. During the confrontation, Joiner stabbed his mother in the neck and hands. 

His mother was able to get away from Joiner while another family member fought for possession of the knife. After the knife was obtained and safely secured, one family member held Joiner down until the deputies.

His mother was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Joiner was also medically evaluated and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail after being released from the hospital.

Detectives are still investigating the incident; further details will be provided once they are obtained.
