ASSUMPTION PARISH — A St. Amant man is facing felony sex crime charges involving a child under the age of 10.
Sidney Clifton, 59, is being charged with indecent behavior with juveniles, along with sexual battery, with a specific charge of forcible fondling.
Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon says deputies went to an address near Belle Rose on July 16 after being informed that Clifton had committed sexual battery against a child there on July 15.
Deputies say the victim was allowed to accompany Clifton to a store on the 15th following the first incident. Upon leaving, Clifton drove the victim to a secluded area where he attempted to touch the juvenile victim again but was repelled
Clifton then took the child back to the residence near Belle Rose and told the victim not to tell anyone.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Clifton on Aug. 21 and transferred him to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office where he was booked.
Clifton remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
