ST. FRANCISVILLE — A two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle in West Feliciana Parish on Monday evening has claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.
It was around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 21 when Louisiana State Police troopers responded to Highway 61 near West Feliciana Parkway for the crash.
The investigation so far shows that 40-year-old Andre Jones of Vicksburg, Mississippi, was driving a 2002 Chevy Tahoe north on Highway 61 in the right lane. At the same time, a 1998 Honda Shadow motorcycle was also northbound on Hwy. 61, but in the left lane.
It’s unknown why but Jones attempted to make a U-turn from the right lane to head south on Hwy. 61, and that’s when the crash happened. Troopers say the motorcyclist hit the driver’s side of the Tahoe.
The motorcyclist was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, had life-threatening injuries, and was transported to a hospital, but did not survive his injuries, State Police reports. His name has not been released at this time.
Jones had minor injuries and was also transported to a hospital. Two other passengers in the Tahoe were not injured. Impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis.
As a result of the on-scene investigation, Jones was arrested and booked into the West Feliciana Parish Jail for negligent homicide, careless operation, no insurance, and window tint. This crash remains under investigation.
