The St. George Fire Department is accepting applications for its next recruit academy, slated to start Feb. 26.
The department wants to fill the six-month-long Academy class with at least 20 people.
To be considered, the person:
- Must be 18 years old
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED
- Must be a U.S. citizen, or your immigration status must be current and permit you to work full-time in the U.S.
- Must possess government-issued driver’s license
- Must pass the LA State Firefighters Civil Service Test
All of those must be completed before the person applies. Before placement in the class, the applicant must pass a background investigation through the Louisiana State Police, a psych exam, a medical exam and drug screen, and the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test. Once those have been completed, an offer of employment may be made.
