St. Helena: Eight arrested in shooting last week

AMITE — The St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office recently arrested eight people, two adults and two juveniles between the ages of 12-19, in connection with a shooting in Amite last week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9, around 7:44 p.m., deputies responded to 1053 Saw Mill Rd. in Amite about a shooting. After an investigation and within only hours, deputies arrested eight people believed to be involved in the shooting.

St. Helena Parish Sheriff Clay Chutz says two of the people arrested were juveniles.

The investigation is ongoing and no other details are available at this time.
