Father arrested after toddler injured in shooting

ST. HELENA — A father has been arrested and charged after his 2-year-old child was injured during a shooting Saturday night, St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office says.

Investigators say the toddler was injured before 9:30 p.m. March 4. The child was taken to the hospital by the father, Herman Love.

The child was treated and transferred to another hospital and is in stable condition, investigators said.

Love was charged with negligent injury and obstruction of justice. The investigation into how the child was shot and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation.
