ABITA SPRINGS — One person is dead and another injured after a crash on Sunday, Jan. 11 along Highway 435 near Brook Forest Road.
The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred on Hwy. 435 just before 5 a.m. on Sunday. The initial investigation indicates that a Chevy pickup truck was traveling on 435 when it went off the roadway for unknown reasons.
The truck crossed over a ditch and ended up hitting a tree. Both the male driver and a male passenger were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The driver was pronounced dead upon arrival, per STPSO. Officials have not publicly identified the victim.
The crash remains under investigation. No other details are available at this time.
