SLIDELL — Four people were arrested after St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Narcotics agents dismantled a suspected family-run drug trafficking organization. The group was operating in the Pearl River and Slidell areas, according to officials.
The investigation known as “Operation Family Feud” launched in February, with STPSO Narcotics agents looking into a group suspected of distributing large quantities of meth and crack cocaine throughout the parish. Through their investigation, detectives identified multiple members of the same family allegedly working together in trafficking drugs.
Those people were identified as:
- Nathaniel “Mike” Burnette, 49
- Jamichael “Mike Mike” Powell, 21 (Burnette’s nephew)
- Edward “June Bug” Anthony Jr., 56 (Burnette’s cousin)
- Domonic “Six” Burnette, 47 (Burnette’s brother)
The investigation focused on locations along James Crosby Road in Pearl River and the Alton subdivision in Slidell, where STPSO says the organization was actively distributing drugs. Early on March 18, STPSO detectives and other agencies executed seven search warrants and three arrest warrants.
Nathaniel Burnette, the primary target of the investigation, was located operating in his home in the 64100 block of James Crosby Road Extension. According to STPSO, Burnette has an extensive drug-related criminal history and was on active probation with the State of Louisiana Probation & Parole Office until 2027 for drug distribution.
Law enforcement officers executed search warrants at other properties and homes associated with Burnette on James Crosby Road Extension. Additional search and arrest warrants were executed at the homes of Edward Anthony Jr, also in the 64100 block of James Crosby Road Extension; and Domonic Burnette in the 62000 block of N Tenth Street in north Slidell (Alton).
During “Operation Family Feud,” detectives seized the following items:
- Approximately 1.4 pounds of methamphetamine
- Approximately 1 ounce of methadone wafers / powder
- Approximately 7 grams of crack cocaine
- 3 dosage units of Suboxone
- 165 dosage unit of Buprenorphine
- 1 dosage unit of Oxycodone
- 2 tablets of Methamphetamine
- Two firearms
- $6,661

- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (methamphetamine)
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (methadone)
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance (suboxone)
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance (buprenorphine)
- 1 count of Transaction Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
- 1 count of Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
- 1 count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- 1 count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

- 2 counts Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (methamphetamine)
- 1 count Conspiracy to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (methamphetamine)
- 2 counts Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 2000 feet of a School
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (methamphetamine)
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (methadone)
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance (suboxone)
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance (buprenorphine)
- 1 count Possession of a Firearm in the Prescence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
- 1 count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Edward Anthony Jr. (Anthony was also on active probation until 2030 for possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl):
- 4 counts Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (cocaine)
- 4 counts Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 2000 feet of a School
- 1 count Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (cocaine)
- 1 count Transaction Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
- 1 count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Domonic Burnette:
- 2 counts Distribution of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (cocaine)
- 2 counts Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance within 2000 feet of a School
- 2 counts Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (methamphetamine)
- 1 count Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
- 1 count Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
“This was not a small, isolated operation. This was a coordinated, family-run network selling dangerous narcotics into our neighborhoods,” said St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith. “This case is a stark reminder of how deeply rooted and dangerous these operations can become, even within families. We will continue working tirelessly alongside our local and federal partners to identify, disrupt and dismantle those who bring drugs into St. Tammany Parish.”
