SLIDELL —- St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded on Monday to Hwy. 11 near Indiana Avenue for what may be human remains, law enforcement told UWK. On Tuesday, the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services (FACES) Laboratory took possession of the remains.
It was after 4 p.m. on Monday, April 20th when someone called in what appeared to be human remains at the scene in a waterway nearby. According to St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, the skeletal remains were discovered in a retention pond.

St. Tammany Sheriff’s deputies are the lead on the investigation and at this time, they tell UWK no further details are available as they are still at the scene trying to determine exactly what happened.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office and the LSU Forensic Anthropology and Computer Enhancement Services (FACES) Laboratory were contacted on Monday. On Tuesday, April 21, representatives from the FACES Lab took possession of the remains and will assist in determining a positive identification.
At this time, the sheriff’s office is saying they do not suspect foul play.
