PEARL RIVER — Two men are dead after they were pulled from the water at Lock One Navigation Canal on Wednesday, according to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene after receiving reports that two people were unresponsive after getting into the water near the lock. Family members who were present pulled the men out of the water before STPSO deputies arrived.
Emergency responders began life-saving measures once they arrived at the scene, and both of the men were transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.
The victims’ bodies have been turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation, and no additional information, including the victims’ identities or what led up to the incident, is available at this time.
