The fire was confined to a hallway in the English building with light to moderate damage, but officials say the damage is estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

After the initial investigation, officials determined the fire was intentionally set and now, they’re looking for a suspect.

“Based on evidence obtained so far, deputies believe the suspect entered the campus on a bicycle and left in the direction of Robbie St. shortly before the fire department was alerted,” the State Fire Marshal’s news release read.

It was a three-alarm fire with the Livingston Parish Fire District 4 and Eastside Fire Dept. assisting. It took roughly half an hour to get the fire under control, but after fighting all the hot spots, officials say it took nearly an hour and a half to get the fire completely extinguished.

There were no injuries as the building was not occupied at the time of the fire.

Denham Fire requested the State Fire Marshal’s Office to join their investigation into the fire.
