State police investigating fatal single-vehicle crash

BATCHELOR —— Louisiana State Police are investigating an early-morning single-vehicle crash that killed a 64-year-old man in Pointe Coupee Parish.

State police say troopers began investigating the crash at around 1 a.m. Thursday. It happened on LA 417 west of LA 418 in Pointe Coupee Parish. The crash killed John Goode of Batchelor.

Officials say the investigation revealed Goode was driving a Ford truck headed north on LA 418. Goode then exited the roadway near the intersection of LA 418 and LA 417 and struck an embankment for reasons still being investigated.

Officials say Goode was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. State police say it’s unknown if Goode was impaired during the crash, but a routine toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
