GREENSBURG —- Louisiana State Police troopers are investigating a shooting in which a deputy discharged their weapon.
It was around 8:00 p.m. on March 12, 2026, when the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office requested Louisiana State Police to investigate a deputy-involved shooting.
According to LSP’s preliminary investigation, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a St. Helena deputy responded to a home on Willie Redden Rd. in Greensburg to assist the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) with an ongoing investigation involving 37-year-old Norra Virginia Yvette Crier of Greensburg.
While speaking with DCFS and the deputy, Crier allegedly produced a firearm, and fired multiple rounds toward the investigators. In response, the St. Helena deputy fired his weapon toward Crier, LSP says.
Crier then went back inside the home before she escaped and ran from the rear of the home with her children. She was taken into custody a short time later. The children were located unharmed at a nearby home, and placed in the custody of DCFS for further care.
Nobody was injured in the incident.
While detectives processed the scene, they located another firearm along with various quantities of narcotics.
Detectives obtained a warrant, and arrested Crier on the charges of: two counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder; two counts of Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a CDS; three counts of Child Endangerment; one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule I CDS (Marijuana); and one count of Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Schedule II CDS (Cocaine). Crier is currently in the St. Helena Correctional Facility.
