State Police Lt. on leave following “hiring for sexual activity” arrest

A Louisiana State Police Lieutenant has been placed on administrative leave following an arrest in South Dakota while attending a work-related conference.

The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office in Rapid City, South Dakota charged 44-year-old Kirk Thibodeaux with one count of hiring for sexual activity. The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office said the alleged incident happened around 3am on Sept. 20th at a hotel in South Dakota.

Lt. Thibodeaux has been with LSP since 2002 and is currently assigned to the Transportation Safety Services/Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.

He is on administrative leave pending the conclusion of the criminal and administrative investigation. 

The charge is classified as a class one misdemeanor.

The criminal case has been handed over to the Pennington County States Attorney’s Office.
