State Police trooper arrested for allegedly violating protective order

MARKSVILLE, La: Trooper Nick Ducote, 31, was arrested Saturday while on administrative leave from the Louisiana State Police.

His leave dates back to November 7, 2022. State Police said the Marksville Police Department in Avoyelles Parish responded to a call for domestic violence between Ducote and an adult female.

Both were charged with domestic violence. Criminal summonses were issued to both individuals by the Marksville PD.

Two days later, Ducote was served a restraining order on November 9, 2022 by the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office. It’s why Ducote was placed on administrative leave.

On December 3, 2022, State Police says Ducote allegedly violated the protective order, which led to a warrant being issued for his arrest by the 12th Judicial District Court.

He was arrested and booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office Jail without incident.

Ducote has been with LSP since 2014. He was off duty at the time of both incidents. He is currently assigned to Patrol at Troop E in Alexandria and remains on administrative leave pending the conclusion of the criminal and administrative investigations.
