State Police trooper arrested for domestic abuse battery by strangulation

The Gonzales Police Dept. arrested an off-duty State Police trooper early Saturday morning for domestic violence.

Around 1am, police responded to the 2100 block of Veterans Blvd. in Gonzales where Garrett Yetman, 28, of Baton Rouge, was arrested.

The preliminary investigation reveals Yetman was involved in an argument with a woman. During the argument, officials say there was an “assault and a battery took place.”

Yetman is charged with domestic abuse-battery by strangulation and simple assault.

Yetman has been with State Police since 2019 and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
