Stolen ATM machines found in a truck

BATON ROUGE, La: Not even 12 hours after an ATM machine was stolen, Baton Rouge Police officers found a truck with two ATMs in the bed of the vehicle.

It was around 3am on Tuesday, Dec. 6th when officers responded to the Sherwood Square shopping center for an alarm going off at the Exotic Smoke Shop. That’s when they realized the ATM had been stolen.

Two men are accused of stealing the ATM out of the business. Officials say this is the time of the year when ATM thefts increase due to the holidays.

It’s unclear if the truck located around 2pm in Baton Rouge is connected to the theft earlier in the day.

Nearly 10 miles away, officers found an abandoned truck outside a church on Monte Sano Ave. In the bed of the truck, officers found two ATM machines.

It’s unknown at this time if another business also had their ATM stolen or not.

BRPD does not respond to media requests from Unfiltered with Kiran to get any additional information on this case or to confirm if the recovered truck is for sure connected to the stolen ATM overnight.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stopper at 344-STOP or submit a tip online anonymously.
