Store manager and suspects exchange gunfire after robbery

Surveillance video from nearby business picks up two men walking into the Vape store minutes before 9:20pm on April 1st

BATON ROUGE, La. — The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a store manager and armed robbery suspects exchanging gunfire.

Many witnesses have told Unfiltered with Kiran it was a large scene with several deputies responding to the scene and spanning a large area on Saturday night.

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s officials say two men entered the Smoke Shop Vape Store on Jones Creek Rd. off of George O’Neal Rd. around 9:20pm on April 1 in Baton Rouge.

Suspects caught on surveillance from a nearby business

An employee at the store told deputies the two men walked into the store armed with guns and robbed the clerk. An undisclosed amount of money was taken in the armed robbery.

When the manager arrived at the store just a short time later, the suspects were outside according to deputies. That manager and the two suspects exchanged gunfire. Deputies say no one was injured or hit by any of the bullets.

The suspects did run off and get away.

Sources tell UWK the two suspects are believed to be the same suspects from an armed robbery at a store on Coursey Blvd. the night before, March 31st.
