ST. TAMMANY — A St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s sergeant has been arrested and fired after an investigation into domestic violence allegations.
Sean Gowan, 34, who served in the department’s criminal patrol division, was arrested Dec. 3 on a charge of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment. He was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
The arrest followed an investigation by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Public Integrity Bureau and Major Crimes Division.
The arrested St. Tammany sergeant had been with the department since October 2014.
“Anytime an allegation is made involving one of our own, we take it extremely seriously. No one is above the law, and the trust of our community depends on our willingness to hold ourselves accountable,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “The behavior uncovered during this investigation is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.”
