Student arrested after stabbing at Hammond High School

HAMMOND — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office says one juvenile is in custody and another in stable condition following a stabbing at Hammond High School.

TPSO says their school resource officers are investigating a fight that took place in the bathroom at Hammond High School between two female students. It happened on Monday, April 22, 2024 around 10:30 a.m.

During the investigation, investigators learned that one of the girls had at least three small puncture wounds, all of which were non-life-threatening to the upper extremities.

The student identified as the offender was found to be in possession of a small foldable “key-knife”. She has since been taken into custody and booked into Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center where she will be charged with aggravated second degree battery.
