Sullivan Rd. shut down after 18-wheeler clips school bus

UPDATE: As of 10am, Sullivan Rd. is back open

Sullivan Rd. between Hooper and Wax roads will be shut down for several hours after an accident involving a school bus and 18-wheeler.

It happened around 6:35am in the 11300 block of Sullivan Rd.

Central Police Chief Roger Corcoran said it appears the 18-wheeler’s front tires came off the road and when the driver tried to get back on the road, he clipped the front fender of the school bus.

The bus was headed southbound while the big rig was northbound.

Thankfully, there were no injuries to any of the children or the driver of the big rig. The 18-wheeler was empty so there’s no need to off-load any of the cargo.

“The truck is on its side so we’re asking everyone to please avoid this part of Sullivan for the next several hours,” said Chief Corcoran. “There are no shoulders at all on this stretch and had there been, this would not have happened.”
