Suspect arrested after deadly shooting near gas station at Siegen and Perkins Monday night

BATON ROUGE — A suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man near Perkins Rd. and Siegen Ln. on Monday night, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. near the Circle K gas station on Michael Delving Rd. Jevaughn Oubre, 37, was found dead in the roadway, the sheriff’s office said.

Witnesses were able to identify the shooter as Traveron Richard, 32, deputies said. He was arrested a short time later in a nearby neighborhood and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Richard faces charges of second-degree murder and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
