Suspect from OYO Hotel homicide was “Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitive” in Texas

This week, Baton Rouge Police arrested Justin Cuba, 34, homeless, for his involvement in the murder of Jaci Bergeron, 32, at the OYO Hotel on Gwenadele last month.

Cuba was listed on the Texas DPS website as one of the “Top 10 Most Wanted Fugitives” in the state at the time of his arrest in Baton Rouge.

In 2020, Cuba was arrested for aggravated robbery and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance in Texas and subsequently bonded out. On Aug. 3, 2021, Cuba and female accomplice Carmen Cuba (AKA Carmen Taylor) were allegedly involved in the shooting death of a 48-year-old man in Ladonia, Texas, before the couple fled the scene.

The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Justin and Carmen Cuba’s arrests for first-degree murder. On August 6, 2021, the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office also issued warrants for Justin Cuba’s arrest for failure to appear in connection to his 2020 charges of aggravated robbery and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.

As of May 7th, Cuba is still being held at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
