Suspect in Brusly’s deadly stabbing now charged with murder

District Attorney Tony Clayton described the stabbing deaths of Myiesha Briama Adams, 29, and Robert Washington, 66, both of Brusly, as ‘horrific.’

Their bodies were found on Sunday, March 27, 2022 in Brusly just hours apart.

Today, March 31st, West Baton Rouge Major Zack Simmers confirmed Kevin Craig, 58, is now charged with both murders. A preliminary autopsy revealed both Adams & Washington were killed from multiple stab wounds.

He was detained and questioned on Sunday after the stabbing deaths and charged with home invasion and domestic abuse battery. Now, he’s also charged with two counts of first degree murder.

“The crime is horrific. There’s overwhelming evidence that implements him. The tragedy of it all is that I grew up in the area and grew up with this defendant and we knew each other. I know his family. He comes from a spectacular family. He chose the path of doing drugs and that’s what led him to this very spot he’s in. We will follow the evidence and I’m confident the evidence will lead to him to Angola or he will die in prison,” said Clayton.

Clayton said it’s too early right now to discuss whether the death penalty is an option when it comes to Craig.

“We don’t have double murders in West Baton Rouge often so we know this left many of our residents surprised. Our deputies have worked very hard to ensure no evidence was left behind in this case. We used every tool at our disposal from the drone to several deputies to make sure we presented a solid case to District Attorney Tony Clayton,” said WBRSO Major Simmers.
