Suspect opens fire following a crash | Double shooting with one dead

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police officers responded to a double shooting overnight that left one person dead.

It happened around 3 a.m. in the 300 block of Riverlon Ave., that’s off of Florida Blvd. near Lobdell Ave.

Upon arrival, officers found two people who had been shot. One person died on the scene. A second person was transported to a hospital in serious condition.

Sources tell UWK that the early investigation shows a person involved in a hit & run crash with the victim opened fire at the people in the vehicle. Two people were hit, one of whom died from their injuries.

The homicide comes after a triple shooting on Friday, May 24, in which one person died. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1600 block of Starboard Dr. around 8 p.m. Terrell James Williams, 26, died in the shooting. Deputies are searching for a suspect in that shooting, Kendrick Henderson, 45. He’s accused of walking into a home and opening fire with multiple people inside. Three people were struck by gunfire.

Earlier on May 24th, Baton Rouge Police were called to the 5000 block of Chalet Dr. around 4:30 a.m. for a shooting. Walter Jackson, 22, died in the shooting after he and Robert Mooney got into an argument. Mooney has since been arrested in connection to the deadly shooting and charged with second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

Late Thursday evening, May 23, BRPD officers went to the 11000 block of N. Harrell’s Ferry Rd. for a shooting. Dauntre Alvis, 26, was found shot multiple times while sitting in a car. He was transported to a hospital but died from his injuries.
