T-Rex would like to come visit you!

For those of all ages who love dinosaurs, Martin Wilmott and his wife, Dawn, bring Jurassic Park to your door with The Dinosaur Experience.

The experience involves friendly dinosaurs, including Nash, a 15-foot T-Rex and Rexi, a baby T-Rex.

Wilmott, initially from England, came to Louisiana 10 years ago and married his wife.

The couple lived in Denham Springs in 2016 before the flood destroyed their home. The insurance money they received helped them start their first business, Mission Inflatable.

From working the various birthday parties, the couple saw a way to expand their business and the Dinosaur Experience was born.

“Covid forced us to readjust the business,” Martin Wilmott said.  “I built a cage on a trailer that I’ve got. We put Nash in our trailer and I sat in the back with Rexi and for the first few weeks of lockdown we traveled around the area bringing our dinosaur to the children, making them smile, giving them something to smile about.”

Wilmott said the goal of The Dinosaur Experience is for kids to enjoy themselves, even though Nash’s size may frighten some of the kids.

“We want this to be enjoyable for everybody,” he said. “We’re very conscious that a 15-foot dinosaur can be really scary, so we work really hard to make sure the children aren’t scared. We work hard to make sure they enjoy it. We’re not against making adults scared. We’ll come and scare them occasionally.”

Wilmott said during the summer months they are open for business seven days a week. The events include summer camps and libraries. They do two or three events per day Monday through Friday and up to four birthdays on Saturday and Sunday.

The show also hits the road to out of state performances. Wilmott said they’ve done events as far as Kentucky, as well as Mississippi.

There is a Dinosaur Experience Facebook group for kids that streams a live show once a week.
