TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. — The National Weather Service will be on the ground in Tangipahoa Parish Thursday after a reported tornado hit the village of Tangipahoa Wednesday night.
At least two mobile homes were overturned and a gas station was badly damaged during the wicked weather that roared through Southeast Louisiana.
There were at least three injuries reported, but officials said they were all non life threatening. New photos show just how bad the damage was — trees uprooted, mobile homes ripped apart and cars tossed around like Hot Wheels.
The National Weather Service in New Orleans says a team is still examining the damage. The same system moved into Mississippi, and the NWS says a EF-0 twister hit Walthall County. Estimated wind speeds and path of the storm are still undetermined, the NWS said.
The NWS team will be looking at the damage to determine how long the tornado was on the ground, and just how powerful the winds were.
