Teen arrested, charged with murder in shooting at Benny’s

A 19-year-old has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting at Benny’s Express Car Wash on Perkins Road on June 23, 2022.

Kamaryion Glasper was arrested after he allegedly pulled up to the vacuum area at the carwash next to Richard Eackels, 27, and as he was cleaning out his car, Glasper noticed Eackles and three other people in the vehicle and started shooting at them, according to officials with Baton Rouge Police.

Glasper was shot in the leg and arrested at a local hospital. Eackels died at the scene.

Officials say the three passengers with Eackles, two children, and a man, were not hurt during the shooting. The male passenger ran from the scene and is wanted for questioning.

This is the second homicide at Benny’s since last year. In June 2021, a person was shot and killed at the same location.

The shooting is still under investigation.
