BRUSLY — Two 13-year-old girls were sexually assaulted Friday by an older teen they met online, according to Brusly Police. Police have arrested an 18-year-old from Abbeville in the attacks.
The girls told investigators they had met the older boy online and had been communicating with him via Snapchat and TikTok for about three weeks. He told them he was 17 and from Lafayette, a Brusly Police news release said.
The girls said he came to visit them Friday to watch a movie at their house. The group was sitting in the living room when he allegedly undressed the girls and raped them. One girl was able to escape the house after the attacks and call 911 from a neighbor’s house, per officials.
The rapist was gone before police arrived.
The two 13-year-olds were able to provide a description of the vehicle he was driving. Police used social media platform data, crime cameras and other investigative software to identify a suspect in the rapes, the news release said.
Andrew Romero, 18, of Abbeville was booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Jail on Wednesday, Sept. 16, with two counts of third-degree rape.
According to Brusly Police, the girls were found to have injuries from the crime when they were examined at a hospital afterward.
