On Sunday, May 12, around 1:00 a.m., APSO deputies responded to a call for shots fired near a mobile home community along South St. Landry Ave. in Gonzales. There, deputies found a vehicle that had bullet holes. At the time of the shooting, there were six people in the vehicle, but no one was injured.

During the investigation, detectives identified the alleged shooter as Keelan Irvin. Detectives learned that Irvin and the victims were involved in a fight prior to the shooting. That’s when detectives got a warrant for Irvin’s arrest and executed that warrant.

Deputies also learned that Irvin was allegedly involved in another shooting near the Walmart in Prairieville two days prior, on Friday, May 10.

The shooting was at an event hall on Airline Hwy. near Commerce Lane in Prairieville. Two victims had non-life-threatening injuries. Another warrant was drawn up for Irvin for the additional charges. He was rebooked into the Ascension Parish Jail with the new charges added on.

Both incidents remain under investigation and further details may be limited at this time.
