Arrest made in teen’s killing near River Center downtown

BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge police have made an arrest in a deadly shooting outside of the River Center near the levee Wednesday.

Javorie Springer, 23, was arrested July 26 and charged with second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

Police say Springer shot and killed Malik Clark, 19, during a domestic dispute. Clark died at the scene.

Baton Rouge police responded to the incident around 2:50 a.m. July 26 in the 200 block of River Rd. This is just outside the Raising Cane’s River Center near the skywalk to the levee.

Police have not released many details on the shooting, only saying that it was a “domestic dispute”.
