“Tell your family not to cook today” | Fundraiser set for Ascension volunteer firefighters

ST AMANT — A fundraiser is set for Sunday to raise money to help volunteer firefighters in Ascension Parish.

Ascension volunteer fire chief James LeBlanc says the money raised will help volunteer firefighters purchase equipment to battle land fires.

A drive-thru for plates of food will be set up at Delaune’s Supermarket on Hwy. 431 in St. Amant beginning at 11 a.m.

“Please come purchase some good food,” LeBlanc said in a Facebook post. “Tell your family not to cook today.”

Volunteer firefighters across the parish have had their hands full this summer battling wildfires. Most recently, they worked more than a week to prevent a fire from impacting homes in Galvez.
