Texas Man arrested in Tangipahoa Parish on drug and weapons charges

TANGIPAHOA — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) arrested Shawn Gray, 25, of Beaumont, TX, following a sizable arrest involving multiple drug and weapons offenses.

Gray was taken into custody on Wednesday, July 3, and booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

The charges against him include felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon while possessing controlled dangerous substances (CDS), operating a clandestine laboratory, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and probation violation.

The arrest stemmed from a collaborative effort between TPSO Narcotics detectives and the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole. Earlier on July 3, authorities responded to a request for assistance with a compliance check on Gray at his reported residence in the Village of Tangipahoa. During the check, detectives say they uncovered a substantial cache of illegal substances and contraband.

Among the items seized were over 1.5 pounds of marijuana, multiple THC cartridges, cocaine, THC wax, clandestine laboratory equipment, approximately $10,000 in counterfeit U.S. currency and two firearms.

Gray, who has been residing in Tangipahoa Parish for the past three years, was already on probation in Texas for charges related to unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and felony evading police.

Gray remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
