Third suspect in neighborhood burglary arrested after brief vehicle chase

Arrested: Branson Monistere, 29

PONCHATOULA — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office arrrested the third burglary suspect early Thursday morning after a brief chase.

Branson Monistere, 29, was on the run since Jan. 27 when Zachary Lafleur and Amber Skelton were arrested following a neighborhood interaction with one of the suspects.

Officials say deputies responded to the Creekside Subdivision on Jan. 27 after a homeowner caught Lafleur burglarizing their home. The homeowner called other neighbors to help before he and Lafleur got into a fight.

A second homeowner, who’s home Lafleur had burglarized just prior to the fight, came to assist. TPSO says Lafleur tried to leave the altercation and entered his truck, attempting to leave the area. One homeowner shot the tires of Lafleur’s vehicle, which forced Lafleur to leave the area on foot.

A third victim on Weighberger Road soon after heard an alarm from a residence behind their property. Officials say the homeowner found Lafleur asleep in a truck near their propery after neighbors notified them Lafleur was leaving the neighborhood.

The person held Lafleur at gunpoint until deputies arrived. Authorities later determined the audible alarm was coming from a third home Lafleur had attempted to burglarize in an attempt to hide.

While investigating the incident, a victim stated they were near the Discount Tobacco in Ponchatoula and observed a Uhaul pick-up truck which had been spotted in the Creekside Subdivision, and the occupants were selling items from the truck.

Deputies responded to the area where they located items in the truck which had been taken from another burglary. While one of the occupants left just before the deputies arrived, the second subject, Amber Skelton, was arrested.
