“This man needs to rot in hell”: Jury finds former officer & firefighter guilty of sex crimes against children

NEW ROADS — It took a Pointe Coupee Parish jury less than an hour to find a former police officer and firefighter, Kedreyon Williams, guilty of three counts of first-degree rape, one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile and one count of pornography involving a juvenile. First-degree rape in Louisiana carries a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole, probation of a suspended sentence.

“I don’t know if Louisiana law allows castration in this particular case but I’m researching it and if so, that’s the first order of business,” Pointe Coupee Parish District Attorney Tony Clayton told UWK after the verdict. “It’s disgusting what he did to those kids and he will die in prison. It was gut-wrenching and this man needs to rot in hell. We will seek the maximum sentence.” Assistant District Attorneys Chad Aguillard and Haley Major Green prosecuted the case.

Williams was screaming and crying as he was escorted out of the courtroom by deputies upon completion of the trial. He has been behind bars since his 2024 arrest.

The trial for Williams started in New Roads on Monday, Sept. 28th. Three victims—all boys—along with their moms and detectives took the stand as witnesses for the state. The defense did not present any witnesses and Williams chose not to take the stand in his own defense. Closing arguments kicked off Wednesday, Oct. 1. The jury started deliberating around 10:45 a.m.

“He was just a total monster and to just hear our kids’ testimonies during trial, it’s just indescribable,” one of the mothers of the victims told UWK. “I hope to get my joy back and my son back. Our kids were lost. They started acting out in school, wondering about their existence and wondering why they were born because they were only seven, eight and 12 at the time.”

In order to protect the victims’ identities, UWK is not identifying the mothers by name.

It was July 2024 when Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested Williams on multiple counts of sex crimes against children. In total, Williams sexually abused three boys, whom he had met through marriage.

Kedreyon Williams worked as a part-time officer for the New Roads Police Dept. from October 2017 until May 2019. He was also a high-ranking volunteer firefighter around the same timeframe with the District 5 Fire Dept. in Pointe Coupee Parish. He no longer works at either agency.

“He had been forcibly molesting the boys, making them perform sexual acts, oral sex and bribing for money, gaming devices, game parts, all kinds of different things that kids like…Fortnite, all kinds of things like that, and even penetrating them,” the mother added.

In 2024, one of the young boys was brave enough to tell his mother what Williams was doing to him. That’s how it all came to light.

“He had to text me and said he (Williams) had been doing weird things to him and he just kind of tried to explain it but really couldn’t but when I got him help and got him evaluated, that’s when he really told us the things he had been doing to him. He told me when he was 10 but it started when he was seven or eight.”

After Williams was arrested, detectives found evidence of additional victims through Williams’ phone. Those victims were also under the age of 13. Police then contacted those families, requesting to speak to the children.

Another mother also spoke to UWK, who learned through deputies that her son was a victim of someone they had looked up to given his role as a police officer and firefighter.

“He was 12 when it all started. He was 14 when it all came to light,” she said. She broke down upon learning her son was a victim. “Oh my God. It’s like my soul left my body because he was a person I called on for everything when it came down to my kids. He was like a brother to me. I was in his wedding.”

All three boys testified during the trial, including her son.

“He had my son give him oral sex and threatened him with a firearm. He said he was woken up out of his sleep and Kedreyon told him to get on his knees and suck his ***** and he was distraught and confused because he just woke up out of his sleep and when he didn’t do it the first time, Kedreyon said it again and that’s when he showed him the gun and said to get on his knees. He said he was still hesitant of doing it but that’s when he picked the gun up off the sofa next to him and pointed it at him,” she said.

This mother also testified in court recounting all that happened. “When I tell you, my tears are not tears of sympathy. My tears are tears of anger like I wanted to kill him. As a mother, I felt like I failed my son, because I put my trust in a man who I thought was helping and was a great role model in the community, but he was abusing kids.”

Both she and the other mother do not understand why Williams chose to go through with a trial when both say he knew what he did and never presented a single witness in his own defense.

“It’s been horrible sitting through this trial. I don’t even have the words or even feelings. This was someone we knew and we trusted, like a brother, uncle, cousin and you’re taking our boys away from parties and events to go to different places to molest them. He even took them to his job where there were no cameras. It just hurts.”

Clayton said he understands that pain because he too couldn’t sleep after watching the videos presented during trial, especially when the 10-year-old victim recounted a story of asking Williams for $20.

“He said on the stand that Williams told him if he got in the truck and went to the bank with him, he would give him the money. The boy said he didn’t want the money. We asked him why he didn’t go with him. He said because he knew what he had to do to get that $20,” Clayton said.

The mothers report all three boys are now teenagers and trying to put the past behind them. This guilty verdict and a lifetime behind bars will only help them heal.

“He’s 18 now. It did phase him but now that he’s graduating high school and in college, he’s keeping his mind focused. I think he’s gonna be alright,” one of the mothers said, as she breathed a sigh of relief. “I thank the state and thank Mr. Chad and Ms. Haley. It’s crazy that he thought he was just going to walk away.”

Sentencing is set for Nov. 2026.
