TICKFAW — Officials have arrested three people after a 65-year-old grandmother was shot in the neck at her home on June 21. The woman, Annette Jackson, later died of her injuries.
Her 19-year-old grandson Jaiden Dillon is now charged with one count of second-degree murder, failure to report a felony and obstruction of justice.
On Saturday, around 8:45 p.m., Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a shooting at a home in the 14000 block of Pine Road of Tickfaw. When they arrived, they say they discovered Jackson outside of the house with a gunshot wound to her neck. She was transported to a nearby hospital, but died of her injuries.
Through their investigation, officials learned that Dillon, who lived with his grandmother at the home in Tickfaw, allegedly shot her through the closed, locked front door as she was returning from the grocery store. After shooting her, officials say that Dillon fled without alerting anyone about the shooting or calling for medical help.
After officials got a warrant for his arrest, Dillon turned himself in on Sunday, June 22nd.
His sister, Nijah Dillon (25), and her boyfriend, Benjamin White (30), were later arrested, accused of helping Jaiden Dillon evade arrest. They are both charged with one count of accessory after the fact.
