LORANGER — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) is investigating a shooting that left at least three people injured.
TPSO was called to a neighborhood on North St. Charles Avenue in Loranger just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, May 21 for a report of shots fired. When they arrived, they didn’t find any victims, but did find evidence that multiple shots had been fired.
Deputies have learned that two groups got into a verbal argument in the neighborhood, causing residents to come out of their homes and intervene to get the groups to leave. However, deputies say it turned into an exchange of gunfire. The circumstances leading up to shots being fired are under active investigation.
Three victims were taken to the hospital by private vehicles before deputies got to the scene: a 50-year-old woman, 17-year-old male, and a 33-year-old woman. The 33-year-old was released from the hospital with a graze wound. The 50-year-old and 17-year-old are still in the hospital in stable condition, according to officials.
TPSO says the 50-year-old is a relative of one of the members of the feuding groups. They are still working to learn how the teen and 33-year-old are connected.
