Man arrested for DWI & vehicular homicide after three killed in Ascension Parish crash

DARROW – Three Ascension Parish residents were killed after their vehicle caught on fire from a wreck and one person has been arrested in connection to the crash.

It was around 10:40 p.m. on Hwy. 44 when a 2023 Ram 1500 rear-ended Jeep Cherokee at a high rate of speed.

The initial investigation reveals that Burbank was headed south on Hwy. 44 and for unknown reasons, the Ram hit the rear end of the Jeep.     

The impact caused the Jeep to go off the roadway and hit a telephone pole setting it on fire. The driver of the vehicle that rear-ended another vehicle was injured but has since been treated & arrested. Alcohol is allegedly to blame for the crash.

The driver and two passengers in the vehicle that was hit, caught on fire. All three people died in the crash. Their names have not been released at this time.

Jaylynn Burbank, 29, of Gonzales, was arrested and now facing three counts of vehicular homicide, first offense DWI and reckless operation.

Louisiana State Police is investigating the Ascension crash that killed three. LSP says Burbank was buckled at the time of the crash.
