BATON ROUGE —- A toddler ended up getting to a gun and shooting himself on Friday night.
It was around 10:35 p.m. when Baton Rouge Police Officers responded to a shooting at 1118 North Ardenwood Drive.
During the investigation, officers learned a three-year-old found his way to an unsecured weapon and shot himself.
He was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. Officials say his injuries were determined to be non-life threatening.
The toddler’s uncle, Dekel Davis, 20, was arrested and charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Officers also learned that the toddler’s father and Davis’ brother, Kerry Thomas, 21, had an outstanding warrant through Livingston Parish for illegal possession of stolen things. He was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on the outstanding warrant.
